Obituary of Savita Dajee

Savita Dajee, age 84, passed away at her residence in Chatham on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. She was born in Sisodra, Gujarat, India, to parents Rama and Dahi Purbhoo. Savita was also a former resident of South Africa, Houston, TX, and a resident of New Jersey since 2009. Her beautiful smile and kind heart won lasting friendship. She was an active member at Sitaram Mahila - Mandal (singing bhajans), Chatham senior center (enjoyed yoga, ti-chi and Qi Cong). Her most memorable trip with the NJ Gujarati senior association was visiting all the auspicious temples on tirath yatra to North India. A caring and loving homemaker, Savita was an encyclopedia of recipes and truly loved cooking and good food. She also enjoyed singing Bhajans, visiting temples, and was fond of movies. Above all, however, Savita treasured all of her family and loved them unconditionally. She is survived by her son, Girish Dajee, his wife, Maya, and their children, Akshay and Devesh; and her honorary children, who she loved dearly and help raise: Aneil Dajee, Ranjan Seetha, and Gita Jivan, and their children: Vimisha, Nehal, Divyen, Karishma, Kavhi, Neelam, and Meghna. Donations can be made in her memory to feed the hungry and to children’s education.
