Devendraprasad, “Dad” has been a large part of my life since the day I married his younger son, Amrish, and moved cross country to Houston, far away from my loved ones, over 25 years ago. His support and acceptance of the choices I have made over the years, have helped me become the successful businesswoman, wife, mom, friend and daughter I am today. I am grateful for his influence and inspiration to us all and especially to his grandchildren who hopefully will one day follow in his footsteps. He inspires us all to work hard, be there for friends and family and enjoy life to the fullest, while still making a difference in our community.
He truly did always have a smile or laugh on his face and that is how I’ll always remember him. I will miss his daily weather report and him letting me know how to dress the kids or that I should take a jacket to work. I will miss him asking me where the “Raja” of the house was and I would say which one “senior” or “junior?” I will miss making his favorite enchiladas for him. There is a great deal I will miss of him but most of all I will simply miss his presence in our home as the patriarch of our family. We love you Dad and will miss you dearly. Om Sadgati.

Devendraprasad Rambhai Patel, who I’m so proud to call my dada, is the definition of a selfless, caring, and hardworking man. He was like a second dad to me, and I am more than grateful that he was able to watch me grow into the man I am today. From the unforgettable games of war to throwing the ball in the house, Dada was always down to have a good time. He did everything with a smile on his face as he brought positive vibes to everyone around him. Whether it was making me breakfast at 6:00am or dropping me to a friends house 30 min away, it is safe to say that Dada was always there for me. All he ever wanted was for his children and grandchildren to be successful and happy and he left this world with getting his wish. If I was happy, he was happy. If I was upset, he would know exactly what to do to make me laugh. As painful as it is to see him go, I know that my Dada is in a better place playing cards with Ba. I love u Dada!

Devendraprasad Patel, also known as dada, was a fiercely strong, simple, and independent man who wanted success for his children and happiness. He was the type of man who laughed just because he heard you laugh and who thoughtfully brought you snacks for your short ride home from school. He taught me to be self-sufficient, proud and most importantly, to be happy. Anytime he saw me stressed or bothered, he would tell me to simply “be happy.” Dada poured his heart and soul into his family, the BAPS community, and his senior citizen community and it showed immensely. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for his friends and family. He will always inspire me in everything I do and I am grateful to have been so positively influenced by a man as loved and as amazing as he was. I will always cherish the memories, laughs, life lessons, and secrets I’ve shared with my grandpa and I know that he will always be looking out for me. Love you dada, tell baa I say hi.

Devendradada was a kind, jovial and loving man who was always positive, loved to joke, tell stories and was so sincere.
We all have precious memories with him, smiling bright, that we hold dear to our hearts.
Rajendada feels deep sadness that he has lost his younger brother and the rest of us, our dada and kaka and are praying for his atma to have shanti.
It’s such a shame we did not get to spend as much time with dada as we’d have loved to being across the ocean and are so thankful for our chats on the phone and it’s with deep sadness we say goodbye and you will always be in our hearts.
“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us everyday.. unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed and very dear.”
Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti. Om Sadgati
Love always,
Rajendada & Jasuba,
Hiten, Mannesha & Kishan,

Dada was an amazing person that will be missed greatly by his family. He always sought the best for his 4 children and his 9 grandchildren. I personally will miss our simple conversations about his life and experiences. Dada would always tell me to work hard and make life good. He would also make odd jokes or do something silly just cheer us up. I am happy that he was my grandfather and all the time I spent with him though I wish it were more. I love you! Dada, I am glad that you and Ba are reunited again.

My dada was such an amazing man. Hard work and determination characterized my dada as a strong and loving, husband, father, and grandfather. To say that I am lucky to be one of his grandchildren is an understatement. It is a blessing that I am truly grateful for and will be for the rest of my life. Dada loved to share his life experiences. What an amazing memory he had - ask him anything about his childhood and he would be able to tell each story with the most vivid details. When Dada came to New Jersey this summer, I also moved back home. Every morning I woke up for work, said JSK to him, did our handshake, and he’d ask me a one word question. “Happy?” He truly lived a happy life one day at a time and wanted to pass that on to his family and I am grateful. There is never a day that goes by that I don’t think of you.

Dada was such giving person to not only his family, but to his community as well. He was always very active as he loved to go for walks, play board games, and serve in BAPS Mandir. He was always willing to adjust to different situations and found joy in everything he did. He raised 4 very hardworking children and had the opportunity to see his 9 grandchildren grow as well. He has touched many lives during his lifetime through his dedicated service. I'm glad that Dada gets to be with Ba again and that his life was full of happiness. We will miss you Dada.

Dada has had an everlasting impact on all of our lives. The way he carried himself through life has been an inspiration to us all. He would often times share his stories and experiences, allowing us to always learn something new about him. When we were younger, he was there to guide us through our challenges; and as we grew older, he was there to support us through them. His gentle, yet strong personality resonates through me as I continue to learn and grow as a man. I am forever grateful to have such a profound person as the head of our family.

Dada was the rock to our family he was the foundation for all of us! The memories I have about dada are just so many! All he wanted in life was to be to be happy, raise his children and grandchildren and serve his community! Dada was very popular in the community! I remember when dada use to take me everywhere from school to friends houses to get food wherever and whatever I wanted to eat! He would buy me whatever I wanted as a child and always take my side whether it was right or wrong! He was literally one of my strongest supporters he always told me to be happy and keep pushing forward with whatever I wanted to be or do! Everytime we spoke my dada’s favorite line to me was is everything okay I would always tell him yes everything is fine even though sometimes it wouldn’t be because I wouldn’t want him to here the struggle in my voice but he would always tell me be happy do what makes you happy and that literally motivated me everytime just knowing he’s there for me! I’m very thankful my dada lived an amazing life thanks to his children, Dad, Kaka, And my Fois! I will always cherish every moment I had with dada and never forget that he taught me to always stay focused on my dreams! I will miss you a lot dada but I’m happy your not suffering anymore and with Baa now! Watch over of me I love you!

Devendraprasad Patel or better known as Dada was nothing short of amazing. I can go on and on about all the great memories I and many others have shared with Dada but instead I would rather talk about him. Dada was, simply put, the best dada anybody could ask for. He was a simple man who had simple wishes to see his kids grow up, get jobs, and give him grandkids and that is what he got 4 beautiful hardworking kids and 9 grandkids (give or take the hundreds of people who looked up to him as a father/grandpa). I believe it is a known fact that he loved his grandkids more than anything and all he wanted to see was our success and happiness. He was always there when we needed to be picked up from school, go out to eat, take us to games, buy us the junk mom and dad wouldn't, tell us how bad our handwriting was/still is, or just talk...tell us how to get over problems, how to excel in life, crack a joke, or tell me that I am not allowed to speed until I am his age. Despite the beautiful grey hair and shiny bald spot that he decided to pass on to me Dada never let anyone guess his age by the way he acted. He was always ready to make us laugh, play fight, and no matter how sick put on his beanie smile and power through the day. Dada for me was the noise in a quiet room and as I write this with tears in my eyes I smile cause I know there was one wish Dada always told me about and I thank Dad, Kaka, and my Fois for making my grandpas wish come true and making sure his long beautiful life was filled with nothing but happiness.

Throughout the days leading up to my wedding, I was feeling a lot of anxiety. I felt extremely overwhelmed concerning how all the events would pan out. Two days before my wedding, masa came to me and asked to go on a walk. We arrived at a little park near the house where Masa began to pull bird seeds from out of his pocket, allowing both of us to sit and feed the birds. Masa then looked to me and told me, “Have patience, everything always works out.” Masa had created such a calming presence allowing me to let all my worries of the wedding go while we sat, chatted, and fed the birds together. Masa will be missed dearly.
