Obituary of Urmil Arora

Urmil Arora, at the age of 82, peacefully departed from this life on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. In the comforting embrace of her family, Urmil found tranquility at her home in New Providence. A native of Punjab, India, Urmil's journey led her to Delhi shortly after her graduation, a city where she spent the most of her vibrant life until relocating to New Providence last year, to be nearer to her son.

An accomplished scholar, Urmil held a bachelor's degree in Teaching and further honed her academic prowess by obtaining a master's degree in English. She wielded her knowledge and passion as a formidable tool in shaping young minds, dedicating several years of her life to teaching kids at a middle school in India before retiring.

Urmil found joy in the simple things - her four children meant everything to her. In her leisure hours,  watching a heartwarming family television show from India, or the aromatic spices that filled her kitchen. Cooking and hosting loved ones were not just hobbies, but her way of nurturing relationships. Her culinary skills were admired by all, but more than that, she will be fondly remembered for her generous spirit and lifelong commitment to serving others.

Leaving behind a legacy of love are her devoted husband of 58 years, Gulshan Arora, and their four beloved children - Archna Jain and her husband Arun, Deepa Batra and her husband Sandeep, Sharmila Arora and her husband Abhishek Jain, and Rohit Arora and his wife Shelly Kalra. Urmil's life also bestowed joy upon nine grandchildren - Carishma, Tanisha, Kartik, Arushi, Pranav, Shreyan, Tanshi, Rian, and Shania, as well as one great-grandchild, Aliha. Her siblings Madan Mohan Sachdev, Inder Mohan Sachdev, and Kailash Arora also survive her, cherishing her memory.

A funeral service to honor Urmil's life will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023, at 10 am at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, 95 Mt. Airy Road, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920.
