A moving eulogy to a man who embodied self belief and simplicity. His early struggles in life made him mature beyond his age as he single handedly took on his family responsibilities as a first born. His slight frame belied the strength and character from within as he withstood the 'ups' and 'downs' of life with a sense of calmness and composure. A man of few words, unlike his boisterous siblings- my mon included-, he repesented a generation that saw a momentous change from tradition to modernity but yet chose to be unaffected by retaining his core traditional values. Many memories are associated with him and mami; the endless card session of '56' going into late nights, heated post analysis and accompanied by periodic shouting by our grand parents to put off the lights; memories of our joint family trip to Taj Mahal and finally at Prague where Mama and Mami spent few days with us. Mama and Mami were inseprable, almost like two sides of the coin and this loss would take lot of healing. It is a blessing that Mama passed away peacefully at a ripe old age, typical of him not to make a fuss and his easing out from the physical world silently into the night is what he would have himself scripted. Rest in peace and may God give strength to Mami, Shanthi, Vasanthi and Sridhar and all families to bear this loss with courage and fortitude.
Hope he has taken the pack of 56 cards along!!!! bcoz that would come handy when at some stage in life we join him!!!!

We have known Ramanathan & Lakshmi for over 30 years. He was a very gentle & friendly person & always helpful. Suri & I , fondly remember our card games with them & our weekly sojourn to either Mother Mesquite or El fénix for a big ol margarita & good Tex mex food. We will all miss Ramanathan. He touched so many of our lives. Our condolences to the family

Nicely phrased. It was his ever smiling face, under any adversity, is always etched in my memory. Many times during animated discussion in our idyllic mandavali house setting you felt he was in his own carnatic music world of “tara na na”. But he was in the discussion as a good listener and suddenly he will interject with “Did you know...”making his point. He and mami together introduced us to the “foreign goods” as was called those times to cheese, chocolates, clothes, stationary items etc. There are many fond memories and difficult to list all. Praying God gives strength to mami and shanti, vasanthi, sridhar and all those who were captivated by his smiling and pleasant demeanor to overcome this difficult times. Pushpa and Ramesh.
