Obituary of Shaila Kallianpur

Shaila Kallianpur (nee Indu Bagade) was born  on November 23^rd, 1938 in Kasargod, India to Shri. Bhavanishankar and Smt. Uma Bagade. She lost her parents and two brothers at the very young age of 5 and moved to Bombay to live with her uncle Shri. Kamalakar Bagade and family.

Shaila loved her family deeply, and is survived by her two daughters Arti & Akshata, her sons-in-law Rajesh & Yateen, her grandchildren Rhea, Atharva & Arohi, her favorite puppy Benji, and a loving extended family consisting of many cousins, nieces, nephews and their children.

Shaila completed her schooling at Balmohan Vidya Mandir in Bombay, and worked as a Montessori teacher for many years. In December 1961, she married Shantaram Kallianpur. The two welcomed their beautiful daughters and raised them in Bombay, Madras, and settled in Bangalore in 1978. They loved to travel and eventually moved to New Jersey, following their daughters.

Shaila made friends wherever she went and made sure to keep in touch with them over the years. Charitable work was very important to Shaila. She has helped many who were less fortunate than her, directly providing food, money and/or education to their children. She enjoyed cooking, tatting, and crafts. And most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. Shaila was a doting grandmother and loved to be with and take care of her grandkids.

Shaila was always caring, kind and treated everyone like family. Her positive energy, tenacious spirit, and radiant smile will forever be remembered. Shaila Kallianpur will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A pooja and memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 19th, 2021, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Main Chapel at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, 95 Mt Airy Rd in Basking Ridge, NJ.
